In what sport would the combined efforts of Desmond's, Drop The Dead Donkey, Goodnight Sweetheart, Man About The House, Men Behaving Badly and One Foot In The Grave equal perfection?

Last week's cryptic question

A religious dog is controlling, in darkness, and a medical professional. What is his name?

Sarah Slack and Joanne Rutherford are the only two readers to work out the name.

See the answer

The answer is Bernard. The religious dog is a St Bernard, and is controlling because they are 'manning', as in Bernard Manning. He is in darkness because he is black, a link to Bernard Black from the sitcom Black Books, and the last part of the clue is a link to the real name of Nursie in Blackadder II.
