Feeling brainy? BCG's Ian Wolf likes devising additional, obfuscated brain-teasers as an extra challenge. See if you can work this one out. You'll find the answer in the next quiz.

An advertising slogan on the radio, Paul Merton's country question, Howard's wife, someone who is not as well as you thought they were, and an entire channel all mark what?

Last week's cryptic question

When a sense of dread, a nearby conqueror of adversity, and a carol lyric combine, who gets the lady?

Eric Thomson, Alex & Maria Hughes, Rachel Mansfield and Gary Richmond named who got the lady here.

See the answer

The clues in the question link to comedy films all directed and written by Bill Forsyth.

The sense of dread is That Sinking Feeling, the nearby conqueror of adversity is a Local Hero, and the carol lyric is Comfort And Joy (from God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen. Thus, the person who gets the lady is Gregory, as in Gregory's Girl.
