Bonus cryptic question

Feeling brainy? BCG's Ian Wolf likes devising additional, obfuscated brain-teasers as an extra challenge. See if you can work this one out. You'll find the answer in the next quiz.

Why might these tracks lead to some sitcom confusion?

Last week's cryptic question

A swing time song, a meteor and an ideal inn interrogation might appeal to which nationally doubly-diminutive sketch character?

For the second week in a row, Gary Richmond is the only person to work out what Ian was thinking.

See the answer

The swing time song is A Fine Romance, which appeared in the 1936 US film Swing Time; another name for a meteor is a shooting star; and the ideal inn interrogation is a 'perfect pub quiz'.

The connection is: the stars of the sitcom A Fine Romance (Judi Dench), Shooting Stars (Vic & Bob), and Paul Sinha's Perfect Pub Quiz all sang the theme tunes to their shows. Thus the Little Britain character they are connected to the man who "writes da feem toon, sings da feem toon" for Minder, Dennis Waterman.
