BCG Pro is delighted to launch a new competition for narrative comedy writers.
unusual - the multi-award-winning production company behind The Skewer, The Naked Week, and new comedy The Island - is teaming up with BCG Pro to seek new audio comedies.
Producer and unusual managing director Jon Holmes is renowned for breaking and supporting new comedy writers and now he want to see your scripts.
In this exclusive opportunity for BCG Pro members, writers are invited to submit the first 10 pages of a narrative comedy script for consideration. Designed to get your work in front of the eyes of people who matter, the best will receive feedback and development advice from the production company.
Holmes says: "We're very pleased to be partnering on this opportunity to drill down to find the next generation of comedy writing talent. unusual has always been a champion of new writers, as we believe there's a deep well of talent out there. We look forward to extending both the funny pipeline and this tortured oil-based metaphor over the summer."
BCG Pro explains: "Radio is the lifeblood that underpins comedy in Britain. Time and again, it has proved itself not only a brilliant medium in its own right but also a fertile - and indispensable - training and proving ground for formats, writers, producers and performers alike. BBC Radio 4 is already the world's most prolific commissioner of comedy programming. The newer medium of podcasting and platforms like Audible throw the audio comedy net open much wider still.
"Together, we and unusual want to find the strongest, funniest new narrative scripts for audio comedies. Whether sitcom or comedy drama, they should paint genuinely enthralling, laugh-out-loud worlds for the listener to get lost in."
The contest is open for entries until Monday 30th June 2025.
