- The exact dates for the festival have yet to be revealed
- "We look forward to hosting another year of fun, engaging, and thought-provoking sessions and masterclasses"
The BBC Comedy Festival is to return for a fourth year. The next event - again offering panel sessions and networking for comedy creatives - will be in Belfast in May 2025.
The exact dates have yet to be revealed, but in recent years the festival has taken place across two mid-week days.
The organisers say: "The BBC Comedy Festival is back in May 2025 and the host city will be Belfast. The festival is a chance for producers, both established and new, and those taking their first steps in the TV industry, to come and reflect, celebrate, and explore comedy in the UK. It will kick-start a year of development and production opportunities in the region.
"It will build on the success of the last three years in Glasgow, Cardiff and Newcastle, bringing together the comedy industry for a series of talks, panels, screenings, a short film night and live comedy shows."
Jon Petrie, BBC Director of Comedy, says: "We're proud to bring the BBC Comedy Festival to Belfast next year. The festival has become a key fixture in the comedy production community's calendar, and we look forward to hosting another year of fun, engaging, and thought-provoking sessions and masterclasses, while showcasing the best comedic talent from Northern Ireland and across the UK."
Eddie Doyle, Norther Ireland's Head of Content Commissioning, adds: "This is brilliant news for comedy creatives in Northern Ireland - and there are plenty of them. The Comedy Festival is a fantastic opportunity for performers and writers here to showcase their talents and get valuable insight and advice from network comedy commissioners, developers and decision makers."
As in previous years, some events at the festival will be for invited industry guests only, but a number of the panels and events will be open to everyone. More information on the dates, venues and how to get tickets will be available closer to the time.
