John Hort wins Short Com TV Sitcom Writing Competition 2024

- Runners-up: Superfans by Emerald Paston; The Defenestration of Prague by Robbie Sunderland
Forever England, a script by John Hort, was crowned the winner of the Short Com TV Sitcom Writing Competition 2024.
His entry was picked out by the judges, with the organisers calling it "a brave, funny and timely political satire set on the south coast".
Upon hearing he'd won, John stated: "This is brilliant news - my month has been made already!"
The prize package includes membership of BCG Pro and a copy of Final Draft's latest, industry-leading, screenwriting software.
Coming joint second were Superfans by Emerald Paston and The Defenestration of Prague by Robbie Sunderland. They receive copies of the Final Draft software.
The other finalists were The Devil Hates Latin by writing duo Ross McClure and Ross Morrison and Geronimo by Tom Critch.
The judges were Magdalene Bird (PBJ), Hannah Mackay (Objective Fiction) and Bertie Peek (Roughcut).
The competition will return in the Spring of 2025. In the meantime Short Com is running a genre focused feature writing competition alongside SI-FAN. The final deadline to enter is 15th March 2025.
