The results of BCG Pro's 2024 Talent Awards for Production have been revealed.
Now in their fifth year, BCG Pro's Talent Awards recognise and champion emerging comedy talent. Operating both Starter and Pro entry levels, the Production competition aims to highlight off-screen talent, in roles such as directing, producing, editing and other creative leads.
This year's judging panel comprised of top producer Lisa Mitchell (Horrible Histories), award-winning editor Robin Peters (Big Mood) and prolific director of photography Will Hanke (Ghosts).
Winner: Joseph Archer
The judges have picked Joseph Archer as this year's winner, for his directing work on Denmark Doesn't Exist. The 8 minute short film focuses on the idea that people are starting to believe an online conspiracy that Denmark doesn't exist.
He says: "Thank you so much to the judges Lisa, Robin and Will for selecting this bizarre film of mine. Your work is wonderful, so it's unbelievable you've seen mine, let alone highlighted it in a competition I really respect (and a massive thanks to BCG for the opportunity!). I'm incredibly grateful to the cast and crew who travelled to every corner of this mysterious land to make the film - you were amazing and we had so much fun. Finally, a huge thank you to Denmark and its people, you housed us, looked after us and made us feel welcome in your beautiful country. It's such a shame you don't exist."
The full short is not currently online, but here is a clip from the production:
Starter Winner: Harrison Newman & James Newman
Do Not Touch, directed by brothers Harrison Newman & James Newman, stars Seann Walsh as an adulterer who discovers his one-night stand is now the subject of an art exhibition to which his girlfriend has tickets. He must destroy the artwork before it destroys his relationship.
The Newman brothers say: "Thank you so much BCG for honouring our stupid, crass film. We'd like to thank the cast and crew who gave up their weekend to help fill condoms with hand soap."
The winners will now receive various mentoring support and advice from top industry professionals.
