Venue chain The 99 Club has opened submissions for its annual bursary scheme to support female and non-binary comedians.
This programme is open to those taking their first full length solo comedy show to the Edinburgh Festival.
Five shortlisted comedians will appear in a showcase at one of their West End venues in June, where their performances will be judged by a panel of top industry professionals. Two comics will then receive an award of £500, with the other 3 finalists receiving a £100 award.
Past bursary recipients include Sophie Duker, Helen Bauer, Catherine Bohart, Sikisa, Lara Ricote, Sarah Keyworth and Janine Harouni who have since gone on to pick up credits including Live At The Apollo, Mock The Week and Taskmaster.
The club says: "We value our ability to offer a platform for diverse voices, and look forward to working with many more wonderful female and non-binary comics. We are honoured and privileged to provide a foundation for the artistic development of these exciting new comedians."
The deadline to apply is 1st June. The application form can be found at 99clubcomedy.com/bursary
