TV Foundation launches New Writers Collective competition
- The TV Foundation has rebooted its New Script Award as the New Writers Collective competition
- 10 writers will be selected to take part in a residential workshop and receive mentoring from All3Media's companies
- The competition, which costs £20 to enter, is open to writers with no representation and no previous paid TV experience
The TV Foundation and production group All3Media have announced the launch of the New Writers Collective, an initiative designed to discover and support new TV writers.
Formerly run as the New Script Award, the updated format "will support even more writers" - with the final shortlist of ten developing their scripts at an intensive residential retreat with professional guidance from The TV Foundation (which is a division of The Edinburgh TV Festival) and from experienced executives and creatives from across the All3Media Group.
The successful ten entrants will also be offered a number of professional networking opportunities and will receive complimentary delegate status at 2023's Edinburgh TV Festival.
TV Foundation talent schemes director Sarah Vignoles says: "We've always received an incredible array of submissions from new writers, and we're really excited to see what this year's search uncovers. The ten writers who are selected for the New Writers Collective are going to receive an incredible investment in their careers and working with All3Media to be able to deliver that is a real privilege."
All3Media's portfolio includes Company Pictures (Shameless), Objective Fiction (Feel Good) and Two Brothers Pictures (Fleabag).
To enter, writers with no representation and no previous paid TV experience should submit a one-page pitch, biography and twenty pages of script for assessment by 22nd February.
Entries will be shortlisted and reviewed by representatives across All3Media's scripted labels, with the 10 successful writers announced at the New Voice Awards on 6th April 2023.
The 10 selected writers will then be invited to take part in a residential workshop to develop their scripts (this will take place over three weeknights, w/c 15th May 2023) as well as receiving a free pass for the 2023 Edinburgh Television Festival in August.
To submit, fill in the form on thetvfestival.com
An entry fee of £20 is charged to cover the costs of processing and assessing submissions, however if you are unable to pay you should email [email protected] for a waiver code.
