AEG launches comedy division with Georgie Donnelly
- Major international events company AEG Presents is expanding into live comedy for the first time
- Agent and promoter Georgie Donnelly has been appointed the company's first ever Head of Comedy
- The company's parent owns venues including The O2 Arena
Georgie Donnelly has been appointed the first ever Head of Comedy at AEG Presents.
The production and promotion arm of Anschutz Entertainment Group, which owns venues including London's O2 Arena, AEG Presents is the world's second-largest promoter of live entertainment and music events.
AEG say: "Georgie's appointment will be pivotal in continuing to expand AEG Presents' footprint beyond music, placing a major emphasis on live comedy and exponentially growing this area of the business. The first landmark moment from her appointment will be bringing the esteemed comedy festival, Just For Laughs, to London for the first time from 2nd - 5th March 2023, at The O2 Arena."
On her appointment, Georgie Donnelly, says: "I am absolutely delighted to join the team at AEG Presents, who are synonymous with live music and entertainment. I am so excited to be expanding the live comedy aspect of the business and look forward to bringing some of the biggest stars and events in global comedy to the UK."
Donnelly has worked in comedy for more than a decade to date. She joins from Moment House where she successfully served as Head of Comedy & Podcasts, and was previously responsible for booking and representing comedy acts internationally as an agent at United Talent Agency.
In the past she has also established and built UK promoter Kilimanjaro Live's comedy department, where she toured some of the biggest international acts in comedy around the UK.
