VOXI launches 'Eyes On Comedy' competition
- Mobile phone network VOXI has launched a competition for comedians under the age of 30
- Submit a creative clip around the theme of 'awkward social media moments' by 18th March
- The prize package includes £2,000 and the opportunity to become a regular paid TikTok contributor
VOXI, the Vodafone owned mobile network aimed at young people, has launched Eyes On Comedy, a competition to find up-and-coming comedians.
The winner will take home a £2,000 cash prize, an opportunity to become a regular paid content creator for the VOXI TikTok channel and VIP tickets to a comedy show of their choice.
The network is looking for comedians to submit a piece of content "that will make the panel of expert judges roar with laughter."
To get involved, entrants simply have to produce a creative clip - up to 3 minutes long - around the theme of 'awkward social media moments'. They explain: "For example, it could be getting walked in on while you practice the latest TikTok trend, or accidentally liking your ex's selfie after scrolling their feed for ages (or was that just us?).
"Submissions can be a sketch, cartoon, song, prank, stand-up routine, or anything in-between, as long as it generates a belly-aching laugh. In addition to the collection of prizes presented to the winner, three runners up will be rewarded with a cash prize of £1,000 and extra exposure on the VOXI's social channels."
The deadline to enter is 18th March.
All entries will be evaluated by a line-up of judges from the world of TikTok, including: Jesse Chuku, better known to his followers as Chewkz and creator of skits about sports, everyday life and US v UK accents; Manrika Khaira, who creates content with a sarcastic tone and unique spin on trending sounds; and Max Balegde, whose feed is full of hot celeb takes and tales about his own mishaps. The judges, alongside VOXI brand representatives, will shortlist their favourite work, with the funniest jokers then competing in a public vote to determine the winner and three runners up.
Scott Currie, Head of VOXI, says: "After the great success of Eyes On last year in the illustration space, we're back with Eyes On Comedy, looking for hilarious up-and-coming talent. We know it's incredibly difficult for aspiring comedians to get a break in the industry and we wanted to help them get the recognition they deserve.
"With Eyes On Comedy, we are aiming to provide a platform for young talent to demonstrate their skills, whilst being in with the chance of taking home a cash prize and working with us on our TikTok channel.
"With endless access to social and video apps on VOXI, you can always find inspiration, express yourself and share your talents."
With the aim of providing exposure to those at the start of their careers, entrants must have fewer than 10,000 followers on Instagram and 20,000 on TikTok at the time of entry, plus entrants need to be under the age of 30.
The organisers add: "Whilst everyone's sense of humour is unique, comedy connects us like nothing else can. VOXI Eyes On Comedy is an inclusive space, so content submitted must be clean."
