Alternative London bingo hall Dabber's Social Bingo is seeking a new comic caller, with a £1,000 cash prize on offer.

Looking for "new callers who the team might not otherwise come across" who have a unique talent, the company "prides itself as having comedy and performance at the heart of everything it does", scouting for new talent at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe each year.

Previous comedians to have guest hosted their regular bingo nights include Aurie Styla, Marcel Lucont, Olaf Falafel, Tony Law, Tom Houghton and Eleanor Conway, and the 2022 'Next Top Bingo Caller' contest is aims to find "a unique talent be that comedy, impressive dance moves, or just the skills and tricks to hold the attention of a room full of people as you reinvent bingo calling and make it your own".

Courtesy of sponsors Malibu, the winner of the contest will receive a £1,000 cash prize; a year's contract with Dabber's; an a luxury hotel stay.

Having been closed for much of the previous two years, the winner of 2019's competition was comic drag act Kate Butch (pictured).

This year's competition will be conducted over a series of heats at Dabber's Bingo Hall in Houndsditch (EC3), hosted by BBC New Comedy Award finalist Sikisa Bostwick, with a judging panel made up of agents, festival bookers and journalists.

The contest is open now, with entrants requested to submit a short video (no longer than one minute) introducing themselves and "calling out some bingo lingo" to the camera to show off their performance style.

Entrants must be 21 years-old or over, and entries should be sent to talent@dabbers.bingo before midnight on Friday 11th March.
