Selling yourself
Writers in particular can balk at the idea of 'selling themselves'. The stereotype of the writer is an insular person, spending long hours alone in their garret, hunched over their typewriter (or laptop), puffing away on a pipe (or blueberry vape). Writers are often not naturals when it comes to centring attention on themselves.
But it is important as a new writer (or any other type of comedy creative) that you learn to 'sell yourself'. There are plenty of ways to do this. Part of it might involve deciding to build - or deciding against building - yourself a public...
