Pacing your comedy script

The pace of your script can feel like a difficult element to control. Sometimes scenes feel too short. Meanwhile, other scenes can seem to run away from you, getting muddier and muddier as they go on, whilst never quite finding their point. Perhaps there are some good jokes in there, but overall the scene feels unsatisfying. This problem can also feed into your script as a whole: and you are left with a piece that feels at some points choppy and staccato, and at others long-winded and ponderous.
