Online new act competition launches
A new act competition is launching online. Run by Nodding Dog Comedy, the competition will see 60 acts compete for the title of New Online UK Comedian Of The Year and £500 prize money.
Six heats will be streamed live on Facebook and other platforms, powered by Jokepit.
Nodding Dog Comedy owner Kev Rook, who also oversees the West Didsbury Comedy Festival, says: "Covid-19 has decimated the live comedy circuit with so many acts turning to performing online to 'scratch the comedy itch'.
"Whilst initially the standard of production and performance was often poor, acts have quickly adapted and shown incredible creativity in the content and style of their online offerings.
"I wanted to celebrate this period, acknowledge the amazing work being done, recognise the skills needed to excel online and give newer acts a focus and opportunity to develop."
The closing date for entries is 30th June, with the heats due to run from the end of July to end of August, with the final set to take place in September.
To enter, you must have performed comedy for no more than 3 years. The set length in the heats is 3 minutes, and it'll be 5 minutes in the final.
Each heat will compose of 10 to 12 acts, with 2 progressing to the final.
To enter press the 'Reserve' button on the jokepit.com page. A registration form will then be sent to your email address.
