NextUp offers venues free streaming technology
Online comedy platform NextUp is offering to install streaming technology into at least 10 comedy clubs for free.
The digitisation project aims to bring venues additional revenue and exposure during COVID-19 and beyond, whilst opening a new content flow for the NextUp platform.
All installation and equipment costs will be covered by NextUp.
Tom Brandt from NextUp says: "Over the last 7 months, live streaming from performers' homes and venues has risen even more than amateur sourdough. It's been normalised amongst fans and comedians and we believe it will continue to play a key role in the comedy world post-COVID, connecting potentially global audiences to live comedy everywhere.
"So with hundreds of streams under our belt, a wealth of experience and innovation already undertaken, and an audience of comedy-hungry fans - we've decided to digitise a curated selection of 10 venues so they can get on board the stream train - regardless of experience or existing tech set-up (we'll do all that stuff).
"It's been a horribly tough time for comedy venues, and we're confident that this can help support them now and post-COVID."
Comedy clubs interested in being digitised by NextUp should apply by midnight on 1st December 2020 via nextupcomedy.com/venues
