Comedy Central seeks out more formats via new Head of Development
Comedy Central is expanding its search for new comedy commissions via the appointment of a new Head Of Development.
Matt Tiller is the executive taking on the new role. Previously, he has developed and produced comedy for several broadcasters as head of Channel X North, the production company behind shows such as Detectorists and Hebburn.
Louise Holmes, the network's 'Vice President, Director of Programming' says: "We're thrilled to have Matt on board. His wealth of experience in developing both scripted and non-scripted shows will be invaluable as we ramp up our UK commissioning strategy and add to the successes of Drunk History and Russell Howard's Stand Up Central."
On his new appointment, Tiller says: "Developing television comedy is an enjoyably tough business. Like running a marathon you hit walls but if you can break through, the endorphin rush is incredible. I am delighted to be joining the brilliant team at Comedy Central and although I may not have quite the determination of Eddie Izzard, if I can break through a fraction of the metaphorical walls he has recently, I'll be very happy. I am doing half a marathon in October, though. Please sponsor me."
Tiller, who has also performed as a musical comedian, runs a blog on his website in which he talks about topics such as pitching comedy ideas. Read
