Filming set to start on BBC Scotland's Guilt
Filming starts next week (w/c 8th April) on new BBC Two and BBC Scotland comedy drama Guilt.
Overseen by Happy Tramp North and Expectation Entertainment, the four-part series stars Mark Bonnar and Jamie Sives.
Created by Bob Servant writer Neil Forsyth, the show - which features "a strong vein of black humour" - is set in Edinburgh.
The story follows two disparate brothers Max (Bonnar) and Jake (Sives) who, while driving home from a wedding together one night, accidentally run over and kill an old man on a darkened street. After making the panicked decision to cover their tracks, the brothers seem to get away with their crime.
However, as neighbours and relatives of the dead man begin to suspect his death wasn't as innocent as it initially seemed, the brothers find their lives rapidly falling apart, as their actions begin to catch up with them. Their increasingly desperate attempts to conceal their guilt lead them further into a world where everyone seems to have a hidden agenda and they discover they can trust no-one, ultimately including each other.
The series was commissioned by Shane Allen, BBC Controller Comedy Commissioning; Steve Carson, Head of Multi-Platform Commissioning BBC Scotland; and Patrick Holland, Controller BBC Two. The Commissioning Executives for the BBC are Gregor Sharp and Gavin Smith. It is part-funded by Screen Scotland's Broadcast Content Fund.
Robert McKillop directs, with Jules Hussey as producer. The Executive Producers are Neil Webster for Happy Tramp North and Kirstie Macdonald for Expectation.
The cast list announced today also features Emun Elliott, Bill Paterson, Ellie Haddington, Ruth Bradley, Sian Brooke and Michael Nardone.
Neil Webster says: "We're very excited to announce such a stellar cast for Guilt. With Mark and Jamie onboard as the brothers, we were confident we could build an incredible cast around them, but we have been blown away by the actors who have joined the project. It's a testament to Neil Forsyth's writing that Guilt has attracted a cast of this calibre."
Guilt will be shown on BBC Scotland later this year, followed by BBC Two. BBC Studios will handle international distribution.
