Cofilmic 2012 Film Festival open for submissions

Cofilmic

Submissions for the 2nd COFILMIC Comedy Film Festival are now officially open, offering comedy hopefuls the opportunity to have their work seen by a leading panel of judges.

Comedy writers, producers, directors and performers are being invited to submit films of no more than 5 minutes for the three categories...

- Best Sketch

- Best Comedy Short Film

- Best Sitcom Pilot or Web Series

There is a fee of £15 for each submission, and the deadline for entry is the 13th August 2012.

The films will be reviewed by leading industry figures and the best will be screened at a ceremony at The Comedy Store, Manchester, as part of the COFILMIC Comedy Film Festival 2012. Aside from the awards, this festival - which takes place on the 29th - 30th October - also features panel discussions, industry roundtables and workshops spread over the two days.

The prizes on offer this year include face-to-face meetings and ongoing contact with many of the leading figures involved, including top TV producer Charlie Hanson. Entrants from last year include Bex Harvey and Christian Azzola, whose winning sketch Believe has since been made into a short film by 4Q Films; and sketch group So On And So Forth, who were signed up by an agent and made their debut at The Comedy Store.

COFILMIC was set-up last year by Janet Harrison with the aim of bridging the gap between those making comedy at grassroots level and the professional industry. She says: "This year, our festival will be bigger and better than ever, with new and exciting collaborations meaning even more opportunities for people submitting material. So many new projects have taken off as a result of last year's festival and some of that work will be showcased in October."
