Looking around the current comedy landscape, it's clear that sitcoms are being dominated by the phenomenon known as the 'writer-performer'. From Matt Berry's Toast Of London to Jamie Demetriou's Stath Lets Flats and Mae Martin's Feel Good, sitcoms from all across the comedic spectrum are being written by their stars. This authentic central figurehead is simply what commissioners are after, with this set-up dominating the vast majority of comedy slots on both TV and radio.
