The three day rule

The number three seems to be woven through the sitcom writing process.
When we consider jokes, we immediately think of the rule of three. When we look at the number of acts in a script, there are three.
When thinking of story, there are three beat stories (as well as five, seven, etc). Indeed, many sitcom episodes will consist of three stories - an A, B and C plot.
And most episodes take place over a maximum of three days.
