A lot of writers - particularly newer writers - worry about copyrighting their work, in case somebody steals it.

Numerous schemes and wheezes exist to try and achieve this: emailing or posting the script to yourself is one of the most popular.

Of course, copyright is important. Published novels are copyrighted. As are television shows and songs and, well, every form of creation. These legal rights ensure creators and owners are not exploited and are properly compensated for their work.
