A member writes in: How much are people getting paid for being optioned? Also how many producers do people send scripts to in the first batch? And how much work are people prepared to do before they see real actual money in the flesh?

Firstly, thank you for getting in touch. These are essentially three separate questions, but the answers interlink, so let's deal with them all together.

The amount writers are paid to have their ideas and scripts optioned varies wildly. Newer writers might be optioned for £500. More experienced writers can expect to receive £2000 or more.
