Is the comedy industry difficult to break into?
It can feel like the comedy industry is so tough that it isn't worth even trying to break into it. Of course, getting away your own television sitcom is hugely difficult - which is why so few writers manage it. But becoming "active" in the comedy industry is far more achievable.
For stand-up comedians, there are plenty of open mic nights - and working those can, sometimes quite quickly, transition into paid gigs.
