Funny money

If you're a Pro member working as a freelance writer - in broadcast comedy or other mediums - it's possible you've received a payment from the Authors' Licensing & Collecting Society (ALCS) today.
We've written before in detail about ALCS, yet for some reason we still encounter writers who are reluctant to sign up.
Signing up costs £36, which is deducted from your first distribution. ALCS then takes 10% of the money it collects for you.
Essentially: ALCS is as close to free money as you will get in this life.
Via processes-that-we-don't-quite-understand-and-don't-need-to, the organisation sources royalties for secondary uses...
