Cashflow problems

Money. We all need it to live. And the characters in your sitcom need it to live, too.
Perhaps the issue of money in the context of a narrative comedy feels trivial.
But is money trivial to you? No? Then why should it be trivial to your characters?
Ultimately, the characters in sitcoms should face struggles that reflect "normal" life. Even if their reaction and behaviours are comically heightened, how else are we to empathise them?
In some shows, it's obvious how the characters sustain themselves.
