Some writers always write long, others always write short. In general, writing long is probably better - though both habits can create issues.
A script that is very long will need bringing down to time, or it will simply end up a mess. Short scripts are also a problem, though new scenes can usually be inserted. Very short scripts are unusable.
As a general rule, you are aiming for somewhere between 5500 and 6500 words for your half hour sitcom script.
