Tips for effectively polishing your script

Your script is largely finished, and you are nearly ready to send it off. Now comes the "polish" - when you review your script, and comb it for mistakes, inconsistencies - and, of course, missed opportunities. Here is some, hopefully useful, advice on this stage of the process.
