British Lion

Established in 1918 as a film production company, British Lion went through various forms before being re-formed in 1955 as a distributor. Acquired in 1976 by EMI, its historical library is now owned by STUDIOCANAL. The name was bought from Thorn/EMI in 1988 and a new company formed: see separate record.
