For this poster, we wanted to let people know that we've been performing in prisons across the country, without being derivative or insulting to the people we've been performing to.
We've used to Wholesome Prison Blues logo since our very first show, and as well as the name being a (very) direct nod to Johnny Cash and his famous prison shows, we wanted the logo to do the same.
Many of the prisoners we asked suggested using the line up as a cheeky and fun method to do this, and it made sense. We used an AI app to give our photos a court room sketch effect (all the cool kids are using AI...) which again ties in well with our theme.
It's a bold move using a dark background on a Fringe poster, but again we felt it worked best, particularly with our logo, and the colours on our lineup pictures.
The quotes at the bottom are genuine comments on our feedback sheets from various prisons, and we've obviously censored the names appropriately.
