Ellie MacPherson: Happy Birthday, Mr. President! is a comedy cabaret history of the Presidents of the United States, from George Washington all the way to current day Joe Biden. The inspiration for the poster was vintage campaign posters, mostly from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. The posters always featured a man looking serious but approachable awash a bunch of stars and stripes. For the poster, we liked the subversion of placing Ellie amidst the center of some overly saturated, gaudy stars and stripes pinwheel since a woman was NEVER at the center of the campaign posters from that era.
