Gremlin Head is a show about having intrusive thoughts and struggling with the so-called "imp of the mind". One of the questions raised in the show is: to what extent is the intrusive voice in your head urging you to do inappropriate things the authentic you? In a sense, is that voice really "intrusive"? The designer has made the "devil on your shoulder" into a little gremlin that resembles the protagonist in order to show this. Also, notice it is not a devil but more a goblin: mischief rather than evil. This is another point made in the show: that these intrusive thoughts are not as serious as we sometimes fear them to be. In fact sometimes, they can be a tiny bit fun. They can be cheeky!
