Our inspiration for the poster stems from our love of 90s and early 2000s romcoms, where iconic Daddy's Girls like Cher Horowitz from "Clueless" captivated audiences with their charm and wit. These characters, along with the beautiful friendships and humour showcased in films like "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion," played a significant role in shaping our comedic style and thought process as we grew older and eventually created this show.
"Romy and Michele's High School Reunion" had a particularly big influence on us, with its portrayal of two best friends navigating the world while always prioritising fashion above all else. In true Romy and Michele fashion, we did spend more time discussing outfits and hairstyles for Daddy's Girls than the jokes we have planned to tell.
Ultimately, we wanted our poster to look super girly and camp, evoking a sense of nostalgia that transports people back to 2001, watching their favourite romcom for the seventeenth time on a box TV.
