My idea behind this poster is both a statement and a functional one. The lengths that performers have to go to get noticed and the money they have to spend is out of control. A wall of posters at Edinburgh is a carnival of colour, action and quirky detail. This year I wanted to do the opposite, I wanted an almost expressionless look set against a beige background with beige clothing. I wanted to blend into my own poster, the statement being I'm saying no to the spiralling costs performers feel they need to stand out. The hope is that surrounded by colour this poster may stand out as an oasis of calm and it will demonstrate that performers don't need to break the bank for an effective poster.
