Preview: High & Dry
New comedy series High & Dry begins Friday 4th May on Channel 4. Here are Sophie's thoughts on the opening episode...
Sophie Davies, The Velvet Onion, 4th May 2018TV review: High & Dry, C4
Channel 4 is presumably pretty pleased with new sitcom High & Dry. It was originally due to air on E4 but has had an upgrade and now goes out on C4. Is their confidence justified? It is probably down to how much you can bear obnoxious characters.
Bruce Dessau, Beyond The Joke, 4th May 2018High & Dry review
If you were to think of the worst person to be stuck on a desert island with, Marc Wootton's latest grotesque would be hart to beat.
Steve Bennett, Chortle, 4th May 2018To Sandringham, for shooting! In the world of The Windsors, that means visiting Princess Anne (Vicki Pepperdine), whose shtick - a scurrying housekeeper - is among the show's funniest. Its other standout performer is Harry Enfield as Prince Charles, and this week the writers find a way to double his screen time. In the adequate subplots, Harry accidentally agrees to a duel, and Beatrice and Eugenie give a motivational talk to Port Talbot steelworkers.
Jack Seale, The Guardian, 19th July 2017The Windsors, series 2 episode 3 review
A breezy cross between a revenge tragedy, a Carry On film and an episode of Dynasty.
Ben Lawrence, The Telegraph, 19th July 2017E4 orders plane crash survivors sitcom High & Dry
E4 has ordered High & Dry, a sitcom series from Marc Wootton about a group of plane crash survivors trying to live on a tropical island.
British Comedy Guide, 17th July 2017Many of the laughs derive from absurdly elongated vowels, but The Windsors is never less than a right royal knees-up. This second series adds the exquisite Vicki Pepperdine to the regular cast as a Mrs Danvers-esque Princess Anne. Meanwhile, Harry is worried that his love for American divorcee, Meghan Markle, will cause an Edward VIII-style family rift. Where does this newfound historical perspective come from? "Yah, I'm watching The Crown on Netflix."
Ellen E. Jones, The Guardian, 5th July 2017Preview - The Windsors
The comedy spoofing the lives of the Royal Family in the style of an American soap opera returns for a second series.
Ian Wolf, On The Box, 5th July 2017Review: Vicki Pepperdine & Ellie White's Summer
It doesn't feel like the most original comedy but it is beautifully observed and exquisitely performed.
Bruce Dessau, Beyond The Joke, 29th June 2017Sky Arts signs up top stars for Summer season
