Hailmakers review

Chinese Burn might be this year's BBC Three 'Comedy Slice' that's got the most press attention, given its focus on an under-represented ethnic group, but Hailmakers is the funniest.

David Ephgrave: Now Who's a Comedian? review

Ephgrave comes across as a nice guy with a robust delivery, but the show is a festival of mediocrity - mild, indifferent stuff that it's very hard to buy into. The titular question remains unanswered.

Scottish Comedian Of The Year 2017 final

The Scottish Comedian Of The Year final has been held in some large and distinguished spaces, from the Barrowlands Ballroom to Glasgow's Old Fruitmarket, but this year's venue is a more modest affair - the new Rotunda comedy club.

Chinese Burn review

As it stands, it might require some arm-twisting for Chinese Burn to go to series.

BBC3's Enterprice and Sticky reviewed

Enterprice is a likeable, erm, enterprise and the two leads - Kayode Ewumi and Daniel Ezre - are very watchable. Altogether, though, is something of a rough diamond - charming but not exceptional.

They might have recruited Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley to star in Sticky, but it seems like a stinker.

Greg Davies review

Davies's litany of grossly inappropriate stories - from his youth, his teaching career, or as a man who should know better - prove ferociously funny for their endlessly shameful transgressions.

Christopher Bliss: Writing Wrongs review

There's perhaps not an awful lot of depth to the character, but his eager affability, the silly pastiche of bad prose and the more knowing subtext will, as Bliss might write, cause the edges of your lips to be dragged up in the direction of your eyes, making the U-shape of an upside-down umbrella. Smile, in other words.

Rob Kemp: The Elvis Dead at Soho Theatre review

It's bloody good fun!

The Absolutely Essential Book of Jokes About the Left

'We lack the advantages of humour and mockery,' says Philip Dunn in the introduction to The Absolutely Essential Book of Jokes About the Left. 'For too long the left have monopolised these instruments, and sarcasm and insults continue to be part of their modus operandi.'

Murder On The Blackpool Express preview

While Murder On The Blackpool Express is probably not an instant classic, the playfulness of its fine cast make it an affable diversion, and a happy slice of family viewing (9.30pm actually seems like too late a slot) that could bear many a bank holiday repeat.
