Clown Nipples and Nice Try reviews

Two new comedians, American expats both, share this hour en route to their first solo shows... but it looks like it's going to be a long road to the finished article.

Bill Bailey: Summer Larks review

It's a selection box of treats without any grand narrative or themes... just a much-loved comic hanging out with his audiences after so many months apart. And, aptly, Bailey hits all the right notes.

Harry Wright: Smalltown Boy, Camden Fringe review

The show, billed as 60 minutes, fizzles out after 40, with no build-up to a conclusion or feeling that a narrative has come to an end. Wright has a lot going for them - there's sensitivity, honesty and a winning lack of guile at the heart of their work - but a full solo show is currently something of an over-reach.

At Home With Angela Bra review

As it stands, although there's plenty of jollity here, this Bra has too much padding.

Buffering review

St Albans Comedy Garden review

St Albans has become the latest city to get a big-name Comedy Garden festival, following similar events in Bristol, Brighton and Greenwich. More excitingly, this run of impressive open-air gigs is the first the organisers have staged in well over a year not to have any form of Covid restrictions.

Jerk Series 2 review

Tim Renkow's Jerk is a clear example that anything's up for mockery, just as long as it's done with clear, uncruel intention.

Review: Jordan Brookes On...

It's an inventive little nugget of audio, with the late-night slot and immersive presentation giving Brookes' anxious evocations even more trippy potency.

Jo Brand at Latitude 2021 review

Not a barnstorming end to the weekend - but a solid one.

Katherine Ryan at Latitude 2021

Quite how this will all fit together by the time she goes on tour with her new show, Missus, from September remains to be seen. But on her first outing out, her piercing attitude isn't supported by similarly sharp-edged writing. Though plenty among her army of fans seem more than happy with the truth bombs she delivered, judging from the post-gig chatter as the arena slowly emptied for the night.
