Mister Winner, BBC2 review

Gentle comedy about one of life's losers.

Review of new sitcom from Spencer Jones.

TV review: Mister Winner, BBC Two

Comedy fans who have seen Jones onstage or enjoyed Clunkerdunk may be surprised by this. There is no laugh track or studio laughter giving it a slightly flat feel. But Jones is great and is always watchable, even when you can see the punchlines coming a miles off. It just seems like an odd fit for someone who is so imaginative, creative and talented.

Mister Winner, episode 1 review

Spencer Jones is one of the funniest, most inventive comedians to have emerged in recent years - which is why it's so disappointing to see him in this most lukewarm of sitcoms. It's like putting Lewis Hamilton behind the wheel of a Reliant Robin.

Steve Bennett, Chortle, 25th March 2020

Mister Winner, review

This good-natured comedy is just the tonic we need right now.

Anita Singh, The Telegraph, 25th March 2020

The best comedy of 2019

Another year has past and once again it's been a pretty amazing one for comedy across the board, and it's been hard to whittle each category down to a top 10. But here are our suggestions for the best tv, film and live comedy of the year, along with a couple of other lists as well.

Alex Finch, Comedy To Watch, 31st December 2019

Opinion: top comedy gigs of 2019

Here are my top comedy gigs of 2019 very much in no particular order. Impossible to pick one out, but hopefully if you've been reading beyond the joke over the last twelve months some of these are favourites of yours too.

London comedy 2019: The best comedy shows of the year

Good lord, haven't we all needed a laugh this year? Shout out to all the comedians who have kept us on the right side of despair.
