Meet the women running LGBTQ-friendly comedy nights
What's up Funny Women! This is Siân Docksey about to drop the hottest guest blog since someone decided that was a thing (i.e. me, just now.) I'm launching my new alternative comedy night Permitted Fruit at a lovely new LGBTQ-friendly venue that warmly welcomes anyone and everyone, so I decided to have a chat with the boss LGBTQ women who run comedy nights in London. Read on for their excellent tips and to play the accidentally-created drinking game 'How many more times will Siân derail her own interview by talking about astrology?'

Enjoy 15 minutes of stand-up and chat with rising star, Sophie Duker. Hailing from an improv background, 'performing with posh white boys at university', she more recently made the 'exciting' leap into stand-up comedy. During the Edinburgh Fringe, Sophie is part of the prestigious 'Pleasance Comedy Reserve' and, on the Free Fringe, the 'Manic Pixie Dream Girls'.
Martin Walker, Broadway Baby, 10th May 2017Bechdel Testing Edinburgh Fringe festival
This month we're taking time out from holding Bechdel Theatre Festival conversations to Bechdel test some of the many (many, many) shows at the worlds biggest theatre festival in Edinburgh. We've been endorsing Bechdel test passing shows with stickers. Keep your eye out if you're looking at a wall of posters and want to choose something with women at the forefront to break up the overwhelming maleness of most of the festival scene. If you see this logo you can be sure that women are being represented.
