Sophie was born in Shrewsbury and currently lives in Cambridgeshire. She went to a state school where the principal ended up in prison and then went onto study Writing and English at Anglia Ruskin University. At ARU, she was advised to occasionally write something other than comedy for her assignments and this was what made her commit harder to comedy writing. During her time at university, she completed a work experience placement at Objective Productions and cemented her ambition to work in scripted comedy. Sophie is now a PhD student at Brunel University's Centre for Comedy Studies Research which includes a thesis on the importance of boredom in British sitcoms and writing a sitcom in which, of course, the characters are very bored.

Alongside the PhD, Sophie is an English teacher and performing poet. She has written for online satire publications Succubus and The Daily Mash.
