Radio Times review
Why are the British so obsessed with owning their own homes? Now's the time to find out and have a laugh at the same time as Simon Evans kicks off his four-part series on the financial markets with a look at property investment.
The emphasis here is on the comic, with Evans's guests - FT[/i columnist Tim Harford, [i]Money Week's editor-in-chief Merryn Somerset Webb and Who Owns Britain author Kevin Cahill - finding it difficult to get a word in edgeways in between jokes about Location, Location, Location and Property Ladder.
There are some factual gems in among the undeniably entertaining banter and, with further programmes to come on gold, oil and grain, whether you enjoy this series or not depends on what you wish to gain from it. This is very much informative comedy rather than comic information.

James Kettle, The Guardian, 28th March 2014What Makes The Laughmakers Laugh?
Apart from 'are you funny when you are not in stage?', 'do you ever switch off?' and 'do you get lots of groupies?', the question stand-ups often get asked is 'what makes you laugh?'. Simon Evans, Kerry Godliman and Jim Smallman respond.

The List, 24th February 2014Stand-ups dissect their comedy
Continuing our series on the art of stand-up, three comedians, Katherine Ryan, Simon Evans and John Robins, take apart their routines.
Katherine Ryan, Simon Evans and John Robins, The Guardian, 18th February 2014Wherein the week is thoroughly mocked standing up rather than sitting down behind a desk, and in an even more ranty fashion. Paul Chowdhry takes over from Jon Richardson as the host for this series of the topical comedy show, taking the week's events and handing them off to comics for lampoonery. Regulars Seann Walsh and Josh Widdecombe return, this week joined by furrowed comic Simon Evans, former maths teacher Romesh Ranganathan and Russell Howard regular Angela Barnes.
Ben Arnold, The Guardian, 1st November 2013Almost by stealth, this vaguely satirical, topical stand-up showcase has made it to a fifth series. Functioning as a sort of halfway-house testing ground between Mock the Week and Have I Got News for You, it's seen a surprisingly illustrious stream of light-entertainment talent pass through its doors.
Jack Whitehall, Kevin Bridges, Patrick Kielty and Rich Hall have all made appearances before moving on; this time Paul Chowdhry takes over hosting duties while regulars Seann Walsh and Josh Widdicombe are joined by newbies Simon Evans, Romesh Ranganathan and Angela Barnes in sticking the boot into the week's news. Decent post-pub fun, if you're in the market for that sort of thing.

Channel 4's Stand Up For The Week will now feature Paul Chowdhry, Seann Walsh, Josh Widdicombe, Simon Evans, Romesh Ranganathan and Angela Barnes.
