A second series for this sitcom starring Rupert Grint as Daniel, a feckless waster trying to capitalise on his cancer misdiagnosis. As we rejoin him, his tissue of lies comes close to disintegration as an online friend turns up out of the blue. A passable idea but never funny or involving enough to truly convince.

The final episode of the dark Sky sitcom starring Rupert Grint, and Daniel's fortress of fibs is finally collapsing. With the treatment for his supposed symptoms providing some unexpected side-effects, could the mysterious figures he is experiencing be more than hallucinations? After all, it looks as if our witless Walter White-alike might ultimately be broken by bad news from Officer Hayward. Could finally telling the truth provide any sense of salvation?

The week in TV: Would I Lie to You?; Sick Note

At some points it felt as though Ed Balls had merely exchanged one bear pit for another; at others it bordered on poignant.

Are slackers born or made? This show stars Rupert Grint as Dan, a twentysomething malingerer who would prefer to be playing video games than be at work. When he is misdiagnosed by his incompetent doctor (Nick Frost), it could be the shock he needs to reboot his attitude before it's too late. As the plot develops, though, we find that it's difficult for a skiving, kind-of-untrustworthy leopard to change his spots. And yes, weirdly, that is Don Johnson.

Sick Note is already showing signs of heart failure

Amazingly, Sick Note has been commissioned for a second series, which will star Lindsay Lohan as the daughter of Daniel's boss. I can't say I have high hopes - she is hardly the sort of actor you want administering the kiss of life to a programme already showing serious signs of heart failure.

The actor returns to the spotlight in black comedy Sick Note, in a role that could hardly be more different from his character Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films.
