Tuesday, Radio 4: Guardian columnist Charlie Brooker hosts comedy panel show So Wrong It's Right, with guests Victoria Coren, David Mitchell and Rufus Hound, signing off with his catchphrase, "go away!". Thursday, Channel 4: Brooker hosts comedy panel show You Have Been Watching, with guests Victoria Coren, David Mitchell and Andy Nyman, signing off with his catchphrase, etc. Shamefully, no explanation was given - although panel show fans are known to find change disturbing - for Hound's absence.
The Guardian, 17th May 2010Charlie Brooker sets out to expose, wallow in, and reward failure. Panellists David Mitchell, Victoria Coren and Rufus Hound are invited to share their wretched holiday experiences and write the opening line for a sci-fi novel, among other things. Let us hope that no one from BBC3 was listening to their pitches for the worst reality show they can imagine: Mitchell's spin on Brewster's Millions, in which contestants must deliberately lose all their friends, sounds like it's got legs.
Celine Bijleveld, The Guardian, 14th May 2010Rufus Hound inteview
Rhythmic Rufus, they now call him. The Hound dog. Top comic and lads' telly stalwart Rufus Hound, that is.
Tommy Holgate, The Sun, 2nd April 2010Rufus Hound wins Let's Dance final
Comedian Rufus Hound has won Let's Dance in aid of Sport Relief after an entertaining parody of Cheryl Cole's number one hit Fight For This Love.
BBC News, 13th March 2010Round 3.5: Do boys have beavers mummy?
'Ross Kemp, Sexism and Euthanasia' - not only does that sound like a cracking title for a biography of Rebekah Wade, ex-editor of The Sun, but as topics for debate on Argumental these surely promise another win for yours truly.
Rufus Hound, UKTV, 2nd March 2010Round 3.3: It's going to be a hard fought series
Show three and already I'm sensing this is going to be a close, hard-fought series. Yes, I've already got two series victories in the bag but as Tiger Woods never said, victories are much like night-club hostesses - the more you have, the more you want, and the dirtier they are, the better they taste.
Rufus Hound, UKTV, 16th February 2010Round 3.1: Viva Johnny Vegas
Following the Red team's massive humiliation last night - a 100% clean-sweep by the Blues - Marcus begged me to review the events of the 'closely-fought first battle' (in which he was thrashed in every round) because he's "not feeling well enough to write his blog this week".
Rufus Hound, UKTV, 2nd February 2010Dave's top original show - recently selected for the honour of a rerun on BBC2 - finishes off the series with a best-of compo. So it's a bit funnier, although it still has the problem of mixing autocued speeches that feel too scripted with improvised banter that feels rudderless and underpowered. Sean Lock and Frankie Boyle are the pick of the many guest debaters. They join regular captains Rufus Hound, who strips naked at the end, and Marcus Brigstocke, who doesn't. Cuddly chairman John Sergeant links the clips.
Jack Seale, Radio Times, 1st December 2009As much as it does good business filling its schedules with Top Gear repeats and faintly laddish comedy, Dave hasn't quite been able to resist trying its hand at original programming. Argumental - now returning for a third series - was one of the first fruits of that idea. Hosted by the continually charming John Sergeant, who grins his way through a script that seems slightly too crude for him, the show asks you to enjoy the spectacle of third-string TV comics notionally debating contentious propositions, but ultimately reeling off hastily assembled routines. Marcus Brigstocke and Rufus Hound captain teams featuring Frankie Boyle and Andrew Maxwell.
The Guardian, 13th October 2009The received opinions that are up for unravelling never really matter - it's the level of wit used in the arguments to debunk them that count. David Baddiel and Rufus Hound are n their comedy comfort zones, but it's actually Germaine Greer who comes out as the funniest member of the panel this week.
