Ronald Chesney obituary
Ronald Chesney, who has died aged 97, was one of Britain's best-known harmonica players before making a mid-life career change and becoming a successful comedy scriptwriter, creating (with his professional partner Ronald Wolfe) several popular television situation comedies including The Rag Trade (BBC, 1961), Meet The Wife (1963) and Romany Jones (ITV, 1972).
Their biggest success was On The Buses, which ran on ITV for seven series between 1969 and 1973 and led to three feature films.
