This supernatural teenage drama remains brilliant as it reaches its third blue gag-laden episode. The gaggle of social outcasts who acquired superpowers during a thunderstorm continue to wonder who the enigmatic masked man is after he rescues Alisha (Antonia Thomas) from a mugging. Meanwhile, Nathan (Robert Sheehan) manages to ruin his romantic chances with Kelly (Lauren Socha) when he insults her tattooist.

The second series of Misfits is here and it's as good (and hidden away) as ever. The show begins with star of the show Nathan (Robert Sheehan will conquer the world) buried alive where his immortality and irritating quips can't help him. (If you were to meet Robert Sheehan, you might wonder if this was wish fulfilment on the part of an exasperated director).

The other major plot sees Simon with a weirdo ex on his tail, a body in a freezer and a shapeshifter in the gang. You kind of hope that they throttle back on the supernatural and concentrate on the relationships, but there's clearly so much ambition gone into it, that you're easily willing to let it slide. Great to have you back.

The council-estate superheroes returnfor another series following their confident, Bafta-award-winning debut last year. The imaginative and very funny comedy drama about five teenagers, who are granted peculiar special powers, slips easily into its second season with the remaining gang members mourning the apparent death of Nathan (Robert Sheehan) and contending with the malevolent presence of a shape-shifter.

The climactic final episode of the excellent, edgy, Bafta-winning drama that has rightly been recommissioned for both a Christmas special and second series. While last week's dead body is stored in the freezer, the Asbo gang realise that local teenagers have suddenly stopped drinking, taking drugs, having sex and even swearing. They discover that this unlikely scenario is the work of a strait-laced cult called Virtue, who may not be as pure as they make out. Inevitably the two groups face off in an action-packed final showdown. It's left to motormouth trouble-maker Nathan (the show's standout star, Irish talent Robert Sheehan) to save the day - despite the fact that he's the only one without a superpower. Or so he thinks.

Michael Hogan, The Telegraph, 14th August 2010

As this super-powered Skins begins to hot up, time-travel-endowed athlete Curtis (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett) tries to change what happened the night he was arrested for drug possession. But he soon learns he can't have his cake and eat it. We also learn how Curtis's spectacularly annoying Asbo associate Nathan (Robert Sheehan) talked himself into trouble after his pick 'n' mix fiasco. It's a hormonal, highly charged episode that plays like a grungey Groundhog Day. Powered by dark dynamics and a pumping soundtrack, Misfits certainly rocks the house - but it's not for the easily embarrassed.

Misfits 1.2 Review

It's a good sign that Misfits' second episode chose to focus on impertinent Nathan (Robert Sheehan), the only member of the fivesome without any actual super-powers (well, that he's aware of), as it proves the show doesn't need to rely on its superhero credentials to entertain us.

Misfits episode 1 review

"Woah! The probation worker's gone mental!" was my absolute favourite line of the first episode of a truly hilarious new drama, and it was uttered by the guy with all the best lines in the script. Nathan, played with green-eyed mischief by Robert Sheehan, injected a very Shaun Of The Dead-ish, tongue-in-cheek tone to the goings-on.

At a recent E4 launch, tvBite got involved in a drunken conversation with the cast of Misfits. They're rambunctious, to say the least. The main one, Robert Sheehan, is clearly extremely talented and also hyperactive. The rougher of the girls enjoyed part of the evening berating people as they left the toilet for taking drugs, when they'd clearly just been in the toilet. Their show backs them. It looks fantastic. It's beautifully directed, with shots of London that are achingly gorgeous. Their acting is precocious but kept just enough in check. The script is solid but more than a touch Heroes. After all, the kids are doing community service, get hit by lightning and gain superpowers. Despite that, it has none of Heroes' late-series directionless meandering. Gonna be a hit!
