Comedian Richard Herring has labelled himself a "cynical romantic" before declaring love to his girlfriend on BBC Breakfast.

Herring was speaking ahead of his 20th Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where he will debut his new stand-up show What is Love Anyway?

The fringe, the world's largest arts festival, runs at 250 venues across Edinburgh from 5 to 29 August.
