'My high point? Being in a film with Jim Carrey. I can't believe I got away with it'
Laura Barnett, The Guardian, 22nd August 2012Darby day
Jay Richardson talks to Rhys Darby about almost drowning, the army and life after Flight of the Concords.
Jay Richardson, Fest Mag, 20th August 2012Former Phoenix Nights star and comedian Paddy McGuinness hosts the last in the series of the entertainment panel show in his usual holiday-rep style. Treading ground previously pioneered by our TV critic Clive James and Chris Tarrant in the Eighties and Nineties, the quiz focuses on wacky news stories and video clips from around the world. Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords) and Rufus Hound (Celebrity Juice) head up two celebrity teams. Their guests this week are David Hasselhoff, Louie Spence and Coleen Nolan.
Toby Dantzic, The Telegraph, 10th August 2012He should definitely be here: Rhys Darby
New Zealander Rhys Darby, award winning comedian and sometime star of that Flight Of The Conchords show off the telly, returns to the Fringe with a show all about escaping the planet in a spaceship. Well, you know, when Armageddon happens. Not tomorrow or anything (but maybe this year, if you choose to read the Mayan calendar that way). Being big fans of Rhys, Flight Of The Conchords and, even, Armageddon, we stole some quality time with the man himself to ask some questions. Well, you've got to get these things done now, haven't you, if the world's about to end?
ThreeWeeks, 8th August 2012My Edinburgh: Rhys Darby, comedian
Ah... Edinburgh. You've lured me in again!
Rhys Darby, The Independent, 6th August 2012Given the success of gloriously trashy dating programme Take Me Out, it's no surprise to see its presenter Paddy McGuinness at the reins of this equally cheesy panel show. Comedians Rhys Darby and Rufus Hound head two celebrity-packed teams for a light-hearted quiz based on news stories and TV clips from across the globe. This week's motley crew include comic Stephen K. Amos, This Morning host Eamonn Holmes and ditzy X Factor graduate Stacey Solomon.
Toby Dantzic, The Telegraph, 3rd August 2012Fringe factions: The Political vs The Surreal
"Politics is not a game," said Winston Churchill. "It is an earnest business." But that doesn't mean it can't be the subject of comedy, as Thom Tuck and Josie Long prove; Rhys Darby and Paul Vickers are two men who are very serious about being silly
Iain Gorman, The Skinny, 31st July 2012Rhys Darby courts the apocalypse in 2012 Fringe show
Whatever lies ahead in Rhys Darby's career, one showbiz stat might continue to haunt him: he may never be as popular as Zippy. Or rather, not Darby himself, but one Murray Hewitt.
Brian Donaldson, The List, 27th July 2012Rhys Darby: This Way To Spaceship, preview
Even as an advert for the forthcoming book this live show falls short of its task, and so it is that a famous Murray is thwarted for the second time this year.
