Preview - Joel & Nish vs the World
New from Comedy Central, this show features two stand-ups travelling to meet some of the world's toughest tribes.
Ian Wolf, On The Box, 18th September 2017A thinly veiled excuse to show buff comedian Joel Dommett with his top off, this new series finds him travelling the globe to pit himself against some of the most rugged folk there are. His friend Nish Kumar goes along, too, just to watch and quip. This week, they head to Mongolia where Dommett tries the archery, horsemanship and wrestling central to its nomadic population. He makes a royal tool of himself attempting the latter.
Ben Arnold, The Guardian, 18th September 2017Joel & Nish Vs The World, Comedy Central UK preview
Very nice work if you can get it. For Nish Kumar anyway. For Joel Dommett it is more painful.
Bruce Dessau, Beyond The Joke, 17th September 2017The series that sees comedians undertaking wildly silly tasks on a competitive basis returns. This time around, the contestants are Aisling Bea, Bob Mortimer, Mark Watson, Nish Kumar and Sally Phillips, and highlights include Phillips revealing a hitherto unexpected link between shoving cake in your armpits and cuddling. Greg Davies hosts, expansively, with show creator Alex Horne acting as his hangdog foil. Verging on Radio 4 clever-clever at moments, but funny.
Jonathan Wright, The Guardian, 13th September 2017Taskmaster: series 5, episode 1 - Dignity Intact review
The fifth series of Dave's hit comedy sees elegant boating, pear poking, and cake being placed under armpits.

Danielle Grufferty, The Independent, 19th August 2017What happened to the comedy trademark?
Comedians once embraced a signature quip or look, so why have such tropes fallen out of favour?
James Kettle, The Guardian, 7th August 2017100 of the best ever jokes & one-liners from the Fringe
For a taste of what to expect, we've put together a rather epic list of some of the best jokes and one-liners that have had audiences giggling in the Scottish capital over recent years.
i Newspaper, 4th August 2017The host of BBC2's The Mash Report takes his turn in the standup showcase. Confidence and likability power him through a series of anecdotes that expend a lot of energy setting up often gentle punchlines. Among the best stories are Kumar's trip to see Shame at the cinema accompanied by his father, his response to a racist press question, and his attempt to rebrand as a cooler version of himself at uni.
