Ammar Kalia, The Guardian, 2nd January 2020BBC, the public thinks your values stink
"I see that the BBC has decided to make Nish Kumar one of the regular presenters of the Radio 4 comedy programme The News Quiz. Tristram Fane Saunders, The Telegraph, 15th December 2019Nish Kumar gig in Brighton turns 'ugly and hostile'
A Nish Kumar gig at the Brighton Dome turned "ugly and hostile" last night. Kumar was the headline act and the first half of his performance went into great detail about the recent "bread roll incident" - which saw the political comedian being booed and heckled and eventually a bread roll thrown at the stage at the Lord Taverner's charity event earlier this month. But towards the end of the Brighton set, The Mash Report presenter was interrupted by a number of hecklers. One repeatedly shouted at him not to talk about the election, another simply shouted "bread roll" and told him to tell a joke, and another made remarks about minorities.

Reece Goodall, The Boar, 10th December 2019Brexit-deranged comedians are biggest bores
When exposed to an audience not populated by the usual hand-picked sycophants, Kumar's tedious schtick finally got the reaction it deserved.

Tom Slater, Spiked, 4th December 2019Nish Kumar and the anti-Brexit comedy club
The disastrous reception given to comedian Nish Kumar at yesterday's Lord's Taverners' lunch is a sign that the maintained sector of British comedy has fallen victim to lazy groupthink and general mediocrity.
