- He wins the £250,000 prize money and will now perform at the Royal Variety Performance
Comedian Viggo Venn has won Britain's Got Talent 2023.
The UK-based Norwegian physical clowning comic topped the audience vote last night (Sunday 4th June) to win the £250,000 prize money and a slot at this year's Royal Variety Performance.
His act for the final consisted of telling jokes, flexing his muscles to the song Popcorn, encasing himself in a giant balloon and - his trademark routine - dancing to One More Time by Daft Punk whilst wearing a hi-vis vest.
Venn has been performing comedy in Britain for nearly a decade. He made his debut at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2016 alongside Zach Zucker in Zach & Viggo: Thunderflop. As a solo performer he was runner-up in the Leicester Square New Comedian Of The Year 2022 competition, a finalist in the Beat The Frog World Series 2022 contest, and won the NATYS: New Acts of the Year Show 2022.
He performed alongside 10 other acts in the Series 16 Britain's Got Talent final; singer Amy Lou, magician Cillian O'Connor, acrobats Duo Odyssey, dancers Ghetto Kids, dancer Lillianna Clifton, singer Malakai Bayoh, dancer Musa Motha, singer Olivia Lynes, comedy act Tonikaku and singer Travis George.
14 year-old O'Connor was third, with 13-year old Clifton coming second. As Viggo was announced the champion, hosts Ant & Dec said he had "captured the heart of Britain", to which Viggo responded: "Not just Britain, the heart of Simon". The crowd donned their high-vis jackets and shouted "one more time" until the music played again.
Venn is due to appear at the Edinburgh Fringe this August with two show formats, Viggo Venn: British Comedian and Viggo Venn: Clown (Clown in Progress).
